Volunteerism

Volunteering is the most fundamental act of Citizenship and philanthropy in our society

Volunteers at Beattie Haven are an important part of our care team. Volunteers work with residents in a number of ways. Here are some examples:

  • Assist with resident focused programs such as bingo, arts, crafts games, news and views, intergenerational programs, baking, gardening, sing-a-longs, spiritual care programs, pet therapy and outdoor walks.
  • Share your musical talents by providing entertainment to residents: playing an instrument, leading a sing-song or a music therapy program
  • Visiting with residents who need some one-on-one or group interaction
  • Palliative care volunteer positions are available if you are seeking this kind of unique opportunity. Palliative care training would be an asset.
  • Helping with special events such as our monthly theme programs such as congregate dining, Mother/Fathers day, St Patty’s, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Antique road show, Car show and many more.
  • Assisting with special projects at the Home which may vary from time to time. Example being assisting with conducting resident surveys.
  • Providing leadership in residents programs. Volunteers who have a talent or a passion to organize and run their own program independently for our residents.
  • Accompanying residents on outings such as shopping, theatre, medical appointments etc..
  • If fund raising is a special interest of yours we invite you to be a member of our Beattie Haven Ladies Auxiliary who raise funds in assorted ways from quilting draws, bake sales, and yard sales since 1966.

Volunteer opportunities are available at Beattie Haven throughout the day as well as early evenings and weekends. The volunteer coordinator will work to find both a suitable position and time slot for you.
